Precious Jones Psychodynamic Theory
Clarieece “Precious” Jones, is a 16yrs old African American female living in Harlem,
New York. From the moment she was born, she was sexually and physically abused by her father as her mother watched. Currently, she is pregnant with her second child, both children are a product of incest by her father. Precious’s first child has down syndrome and lives with Precious’ grandmother. Precious resides with her mother, Mary and is abused emotionally and physically by her on a daily basis and at night sexually abused by her father. Both Precious and her mother live on welfare thus to receive more support from the government Precious’s mother would lie to social services, stating that she is unable to find work as well as using both her daughter

The first theory will be the family emotional structured theory. In order for me to develop a plan of intervention, I need to work and understand Precious’s story, by understanding her family history, the people involved in her life and knowing the origin of her problems. The second theory is the psychodynamic theory since this theory is concerned with individuals in the context of their psychosocial environment. The third theory will be, the person-centered theory; this theory incorporates a perspective on human nature and development that is more optimistic and strength-focused which will be more effective for Precious. Next I will be using the behavioral theory; through this theory, I will be focusing on the consequence of the behavior, the environment factors that elicit and maintain a behavior and the social theory. Cognitive theory will be used next; since this theory works well for the diverse population who seek concrete, practical approaches to problem-solving it will be very useful to use for the Jones family. The next theory that will be used is the structural family theory; since Precious’s case is more focused on the family dynamic, and most of the interventions will be organizing interventions with families, it will offer an alternative and contemporary perspective to family emotional systems theory. Next I will be using solution focused theory; it will primarily be used to assist Precious in making improvement her interactions with her mother and the people around her. The last theory to be used for this case will be the narrative theory.     Crystal Taylor, at the age of fourteen, gave birth to her son Daquan Drummond, on October 7, 1984. Crystal went into labor unexpectedly and prematurely. Little Daquan was born two months premature and weighed three pounds six ounces, born with a heart murmur and slight difficulty breathing. When Crystal was faced with the caseworker from social services, she realized that she would only be dismissed from the hospital with little Daquan, if the caseworker was certain that her mother Florence’s apartment was suitable for living with the infant. The caseworker also believed, that Crystal had been coerced into sex with father Daquan Jefferson because he was so much older than Crystal, she denied all allocations. The caseworker determined that crystal would be placed in Queensboro Society for the Prevention of Cruelty Children, until her mother would find a sufficient apartment for her children and grandchild. Crystal continued the eighth grade in the Bronx, where the residents of Queensboro. By December little Daquan weighed seven pounds and was overdue for his discharge. Crystal’s mother Florence still had not found a sufficient home for them to live. By mid December little Daquan was placed in voluntarily foster care. By voluntarily placing him in foster care it would be easier for Crystal to get him back when she was mentally stable with a healthy environment. Little Daquan was placed with the Hargrove’s, a couple which lived in Long Island. Crystal began weekend visits to continue a relationship with little Daquan. Crystal had all intentions of getting little Daquan back once she was ready, although through her adolescence she became very destructive.
