Like with the Tom Robinson case, a colored male accused of raping a girl, the community labeled him guilty even though all evidence pointed to her abusive, drunk father. The own police officers are racist towards the black people in Baltimore. “Between the 2010 and 2015, BPD recorded over 300,000 pedestrian stops (a number the DOJ believes vastly underrepresents actual stops). Those stops often lacked reasonable suspicion, and were mostly confined of black neighborhoods - 44 percent occurred in two low-income black neighborhoods that make up 11 percent of baltimore's population.” (Donnella). So as I stated earlier the justice system lacks that equality it should have. This is proof that racism still happens. “The Justice Department attributed these violations to systemic, longstanding problems within the police department, and said the violations have worsened distrust of police officers in Baltimore, “particularly in the African-American community”(Donnella). I believe we’ve made humongous progress with racism over the past 75 years in America. The only problem now is not that instead of everyone being racist to colored people, now it is mostly just police officers treating colored people differently. We have changed quite a lot, but we still have a long way to go before the concept of racism is truly
