Academic writing has proven to be moderately
average for me, facing the least amount of difficulty with projects focusing a great deal on factual evidence. Research papers, expository essays or persuasive pieces are my strongest suit. Presenting readers with undeniable truths postulated via science is a form of writing that comes very naturally to me and has proven to be an imperative aspect of academic success. This has also been my downfall in previous courses which required me to construct poetry, speeches and fictional pieces. Creating something truly unique and conceptual is a very uncomfortable task for me to execute. There is only so much a marginally extensive vocabulary can accomplish without having mastered the basics of creative literature.
It has become increasingly imperative that I gain as much skill, knowledge, and technique that I possibly can in order to succeed in my career. As someone who aims to become a scientist and conduct research, writing is an incredibly important skill to obtain. My work will be judged almost completely on my ability to write satisfactory reports of my ideas, theories and findings. This is particularly relevant to the field of medical science, everything must be well-documented not only for legal purposes but in the event that one discovers something of historical significance. If a scientist makes a groundbreaking discovery it could very well be dismissed based on their ability (or inability) to write and properly document their endeavors.
