Ford was born on July 14th, 1913, in Omaha Nebraska. He was born with the name Leslie Lynch King Jr. Shortly after birth he was taken away by his mother Dorothy to her parents’ house in Grand Rapids Michigan. During his years in school he was a star football player and even had offers to play for professional teams. “But instead of taking up a professional football career as offered by both the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers, Ford opted to take his economics degree to Yale University, where he attended law school and also worked as a football and boxing coach.” (Biography.com). After school Ford opened a law practice with his partner Phillip Buchan at the age of 29, later he realized that he wasn’t as interested in law as he was with politics.
