President Ronald Reagan's Achievements

I am writing you to nominate President Ronald Reagan for your Person of the Decade award. He was the 40th President of the United States, serving two terms in office. I think he was an excellent President helping to make great strides against communism during his Presidency. He was definitely commendable in his 1987 West Berlin speech, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall”. It had stood as a symbol of the divisiveness between Communism and Democratic freedom there between East and West Germany. Reagan definitely saw the end of the Cold War during his presidency and therefore prevented nuclear war.
He was born February 6, 1911 in Illinois. He attended Eureka college and was a radio sports announcer prior to 1937 when he received a contract to act in Hollywood. He was married twice and had four children. He was the only President to have been divorced before President-elect, Trump
He was ready to provide financial and military assistance towards this fight. I believe he was somewhat obsessed with preventing the spread of Communism. Early in his acting career he would have been impacted by McCarthy’s “Red Scare”, witch hunt to identify Communists in America, especially in Hollywood with actors and producers.

There were many achievements that Reagan will be remembered during his Presidency. As Inside.gov writes, “Some Domestic accomplishments of President Reagan:
Developed "Reagonomics" (supply-side economic policies) as a means of controlling inflation and spurring economic growth through tax cuts, reduced business regulation, and reduced growth in government spending
Lowered the federal income tax rate significantly with the signing of the bipartisan Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981
Escalated the War on Drugs campaign and specified a mandatory minimum penalty for drug offenses
Increased spending on national defense and diplomacy and ushered in a close to the Cold
