I feel that … Singapore is significantly at a crossroad, in terms of our society, in terms of our demographic, in terms of our economic.
Unfortunately our forth in economic growth in the last odd years has meant that many many people have left behind. & I think that’s one aspect that we haven’t been able to tackle effectively.

Stark contrast between rich and poor. We have people living in 9million apartments with a Lamborghini residing in the living room in orchard room. And we along neighborhoods, hawker centers, we can see elderly collecting cardboard with their arched backs, other selling tissue paper along streets.
Deeply rooted problem.
1. Promote equity in education a. Raise social mobility by making educational outcomes less dependent on personal and social circumstances i. VS HARVARD: Have more intakes from low-income students, they may not be the best students but it is to fulfill the belief of equality. ii. Question whether the idea of having clammering to get into elite primary schools like raffles, nanyang’s alumni relation/ affiliation – is it important, further perpetuates situation, translates into further widening of income inequality.
I would like to round off by saying that this is a pressing issue. If income inequality worsens, it may lead to further implications in terms of social disconnect, possible economic downturn as well as lead to political repercussions. We have to start by taking baby steps and slowly mitigating the problem.
