This semester so far we have gone over lot of material related to the Native Americans, specifically in the Montana area. Throughout the book Pretty-shield, Frank B. Linderman discuss many stories and past times in Pretty-shields life. Many of which tie into what we have covered in class so far. The first subject that we have covered in class that I saw in the book was the fact that clans were separated and spread out, and also moved constantly. Pretty-shield says, “We Crows could not all live together, the clans were scattered over the crow country, so that all might find plenty of meat. The great herds of buffalo were constantly moving, and of course we moved when they did. I never tired of moving,” (Linderman 10). I thought this was especially interesting as well because it is so different from what our society is today. Most people want to find a place that works for them and stay there. Moving now a day is such a pain that most people don't like doing it. Some other ties to our class were the creation stories and also how nearly everything she talked about had a story to go along with it. These stories usually would have been passed down so that what we hear in 2013 is drastically different from the story 100 years ago. With this book, we get to hear the original story, which is a nice change. There are many interesting stories and statements made by Pretty-shield throughout the book. However there was one that came back a few times and was pretty interesting to me. That was the fact that Pretty-shield thought that the younger generation has no respect towards the elders and how the younger generation using horses and guns lead to laziness and weakness. This caught my attention mainly because a lot of people in todays society think the same thing and I think they are right in a way. Technology I todays society seems to be making people lazy and not want to do anything that doesn't have a screen involved. I think that is probably
