Honor can mean respect and esteem shown to another, it may also apply to the recognition of one's right to great respect or to any expression of such recognition in some instances it implies profound respect mingled with love, devotion. There is a priceless respect that everyone in the world possesses, and that is the respect of a person’s honor. A person’s honor is something that cannot be bought, sold, or traded it’s something that must be gained by the respect of your peers. An example of how honor is seen in everyday life in through a person’s word. The standard dictionary definition of honor first lists public regard and esteem under the word, with ethical conduct or high standards of justice and responsibility appearing much further down the list. This is reflected in the way the modern world treats the issue of honor. In ancient times, honor was the manner of being that we now describe as having integrity. In plain language, an honorable person avoids deception whenever possible, treats others with respect and sticks to her beliefs no matter how others think or act. People generally do not seem to behave very well toward each other anymore. Honor determines the hierarchy of an individual while revealing his loyalty and true intentions. Reward comes for those at the top whose honor does not diminish, while a false or fleeting honor of a lesser mortal causes…

Integrity is a new book from Mark Parker that casts a critical eye on the current state of character, ethics and morals. His premise is that these qualities are in decline among governmental, political, business, athletic, religious, educational and other leaders, and their lack of integrity is having a profoundly negative effect on our nation and society.…
Japan was in a place of constant change towards the beginning of the 18th century. While the Shogun, Tsunayoshi, attempted to expand his control, the social classes were changing; a system that was once enforced by the samurai was being taken away and replaced. Asano and his samurai were the exception. From the beginning, the concept of honor and redemption is obvious. Lord Asano is an honorable man who is attempting to live by the laws set by Shogun Tsunayoshi. Asano is prompted to bribe Kira (master of ceremonies), but due to his tradition values, Asano refuses. In an attempt to protect himself from the bribery and corruption, he injures Kira. Asano was allowed to commit seppuku, and it was a disgrace to the honor and tradition of traditional Japanese values. Following the death of Lord Asano, his masterless samurai become obsessed on getting revenge. After learning that Kira had survived they become obsessed to avenge Asano and redeem his name. Following the Confucian saying, “No man may live under the same sky with the murderer of his lord,” and they go to avenge on the death of their master.…
What is honor? For some, honor is everything they hope to achieve. For others, honor is just a word. Even though many people do not believe so, honor is present just as much today as it was in William Shakespeare’s day. In the play Henry IV Part 1, Hal is the best example of an honorable person. Honor is a state of mind that causes people to be honest, just and kind.…
Honor in the past is very different from now. Alexander Welsh said,”In the early 17th century [...]upperclassmen in Europe and the United States regularly engaged in duels on ‘fields of honor’ to defend their manhood”(Welsh. What is Honor?). Honor in the past is incredibly contrasting to one another. In the beginning of the 17th century men would duel each other to defend their glory. Honor now is mostly about social life; do you party or stay home?, are you single or in a relationship?, etc. Honor now is based on what you have or haven’t done and if it was ‘wild’ or not.…
There are many ways to describe the word honor. With that being said, from my own thoughts I will describe it to the best of my ability.…
Honor is the recognition of selflessness. When we see someone who has gone beyond the little self, we are reminded of our own potential or self-imposed limitation. It is to acknowledge this potential or limitation that we recognize one who has gone beyond. A teacher who has gone beyond the call of duty and truly cared for the student is worthy of honor, for they have used their work (karma) to transcend their ego (Somik).…
As an aspiring Army leader, I have been taught a multitude of leadership traits, such as respect, integrity and personal courage. However, the one that stands out the most to me is honor. Honor at school might mean never cheating on an exam or always doing what you say you are going to do. In the Army, honor is all of that and then a lot more. We take honor to the next level, the battlefield, where a M4 makes a bigger difference than a 4.0. In the field of battle a soldier has to live to a certain standard in every part of their life. We are trained to be warriors. As such we have a code, a set of ethos to live by, to guide our lives, on and off the field. Mission first, never accept defeat, never quit, never leave a fallen comrade, these are the guidelines by which each and every Army soldier lives by. To better describe this set of ethos I have chosen to pull scenes from the movie “Men of Honor”. As a forewarning, this movie has one big flaw, it’s about the Navy. However, I’ve gotten past that and can now see how the Army works through every branch.…
made to ask the question "what is honor and who through the film has it?" Acording to Thomas a Becket, "Honor is a private matter within; it's an idea, and every man has his own version of it." This is very obvious in looking at…

So, I play a lot of sports and I am actual pretty good at most sports. Through out the years that I've played sports I've MVP, I've been the captain of teams too. People can have honor in many different things such as family, their religion or the country in which they live. Honor differs from culture to culture, the people in those cultures have different definitions of honor opposed to 21st century Americans. The definition has also changed over time, people acting in the name of honor have changed this world’s path, either for the better or the worse.…
Ultimately, these situations challenge one’s sense of virtue, which involves acting in accordance with one’s moral and ethical principles. Moral courage is a virtue and needs to be developed (as does emotional intelligence) to determine when action is required. Thus, moral courage is linked to virtue ethics, which emphasizes the role of character rather than doing one’s duty to bring about good consequences. Virtue ethics appreciates that conflicts occur and that more than just moral wisdom is needed to ensure a moral outcome.…

I would propose for your consideration that a significant characteristic of integrity is consideration of others; have I been just too all people that I have dealt with. The ageless adage of “do unto others” seems to have been pushed by the wayside in a self-centered society where a majority of people wander around totally clueless as to how their behavior impacts others. I believe this thoughtless behavior, focusing solely on self-interests and to heck with everyone else, is the root cause of many of America’s current maladies. Whether we are talking about collapsing stock markets, a National debt that will be unsupportable by the next generation or even highway driving frustrations it comes down to the fact that people are all too often not concerned about how their behavior impacts someone else.…
