Children achieve better outcomes when their strengths, abilities, interests, and cultural practices are understood and supported. Children need to be supported to explore the different aspects of their culture and identity, while also understanding the cultural diversity that exists in the service and in the world around them.
The principles of equity and diversity are important for children to develop a sense of belonging, identity, and wellbeing so that they can become effective communicators and confident, involved learners. Respecting and acknowledging differences in children helps ensure there are individualised learning opportunities that will enable them to reach their full potential.
