Privilege is receiving unearned benefits, that others do not receive simply because they are different from the group receiving these advantages or benefits. One form of this privilege is “unearned entitlements” this privilege is something that everyone should have. It is simple things such as feeling a sense of belonging or security in their everyday life. An example of this privilege is going to the store and not feeling like the store clerk is following you around to make sure you aren't shoplifting. It is not unheard of for a black adolescent to be followed around a store to ensure they are not shoplifting, or for them to be wrongly accused of shoplifting just because they are black. Although this commonly happens to minorities it rarely happens to white people. This is something everyone should have but, unfortunately not everyone does. This privilege can turn into “unearned advantage” if it is given only to one group. This can happen commonly in the workplace. If one groups ideas or opinions are more valued just because of their skin color this could lead to an advantage when promotion time rolls
