Pro side of debate summary Same sex marriage didn’t come to issue all of sudden. Despite U.S. same-sex couples have the freedom to marry in 37 states yet still facing prejudiced public gaze. To follow most people’s religious beliefs or traditions, same-sex marriage is something which shouldn’t be happening or accepted however, every person have the right to love and stay with whom they love. Same-sex marriage might be an issue against to our belief but when we get rid of our prejudice it could be nothing different than heterosexual marriage.
Same sex marriage effect to society
According to Freedom to Marry (2015) “nearly 72% of the U.S population lives in a state currently issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples state-wide” (para.6). Most of our learning team’s opinion was also same-sex marriage does not hurt society or anyone in particular. They love and respect each other just like other heterosexual marriage couples and have their rights to choose to stay with whom they love. Also, other people do not have right to judge what is good or wrong. It will be a different issue if this marriage is causing side effect to society but until now there was no report of it at all.
Same sex marriage effect to children Adoption rate could increase through same sex marriage which means the decrease in the number of orphans if same-sex couples decide on adopting a child to raise as their own. As learning team member David Park indicated through our discussion, child may feel some negativity that his or her parents are the same gender. But through teaching their children making judgement on others are not good and showing them how much they love each other is more important matter. However, important is that people shouldn’t judge others by their belief.
Conclusion Same-sex marriage might be the issue against to our belief but when we get rid of our prejudice it could be nothing different than heterosexual marriage. Marriage is one of the results of love between two parties and we shouldn’t differentiate whether marriage should happen between only man and woman. Same-sex marriage is not causing any harm or damage to our society and through love and caring, this marriage could decrease the number of orphans too.

There is still skepticism from opinions that range in a form of discrimination because neglect is present. Their demand to be able to enjoy the benefits and recognition of being married are irrelevant showing an effect on the family as a whole. Because it is so controversial it gives way to confusion in establishing the fact, that it is indeed a marriage that same-sex couples share with one another. In my opinion they have put same-sex couples as second class status and deemed there is little room to recognize their form of long term relationship. Same-sex couples have been denied the benefits that heterosexual couples are given. The mode of acceptance in society has not improved, even though there are indications that this change in opinion, will prove to be beneficial for all society today. Repetition of inequality of rights through past history has shown its devastations of cruelty on society or have we forgotten this…

The first reason why same sex marriage should be legal is because it is fair for all individuals to have the same rights in society. With the end of sodomy laws, a recent decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, conservatives have lost their last excuse to write off gay lives and love as unworthy of social accommodation. But whatever ones feel about the reasoning of the decision, its results is clear: gay Americans are no longer criminals. Even if they were, as murderers on death row that have the constitutional right to marriage, they should have too. Marriage is a very sacred arrangement. It is a lifetime commitment said to be only between man and woman. These two people should love or be in love with each other. Over the years homosexuality has come to the forefront. The question of should homosexuals be allowed to marry each other has had the world in an uproar. Homosexuals, indeed should be able to marry each other with the same benefits as man and woman. Homosexual marriages was made legal for the first time in 2001 by the Netherlands. Canada was the first country to marry Homosexual couples from all nations to formally commit. Marriage is known to be a foundation between a man and a women and if two of the same sex are unified, individuals view that as wrong. Relationships of the same sex are often referred to being immoral and a social experiment. Some religions feared that if gay marriage became legal that the churches would be forced to marry gay couples at their will. After researching this specific topic, I truly believe that it is safe to say that the pros outweigh the cons in this discuss in my own belief. As well as in my opinion, I feel that as long as there is peace, love will be found. If we the people chose to abide by the Constitution than that is what needs to happen. People will forever have their own opinions but if others are happy it should not matter if it does not affect you or your life. Gay marriage was legalized and though individuals think that is wrong on the Constitutions part, they need to realize that we are America the free and even if the same genders are allowed to marry, we are still free as a…

“No matter what language people speak-from Arabic to Yiddish, from Chinook to Chinese-marriage is what we use to describe a specific relationship of love and dedication to another person” (Wolfson 90). In the essay “What Is Marriage” by Evan Wolfson, he argues that marriage is a very important custom to our society from both social and spiritual aspects of life. Wolfson believes that as long as two people are in love whether if it is same-sex or opposite sex, couples have the right to be married. The government should permit and support same-sex couples to be married and become financially and socially stable. Gay marriages have been one of the hottest and controversial topics in our society. There are still problems concerning this issue of homosexuality and gay marriages. Same sex marriages are legal in Hawaii, but in all other states couples must be of the opposite sex to form a marriage. Hawaii’s decision to legalize same sex marriages is considered a milestone victory for gays and may cause a ripple affect for similar action in other states. Those who support gay marriages justify their position by the concept of love. These supporters of gay marriages feel as though gay people are being deprived of their right to love. Many people believe that gay people deserve the right to love and to take that love and form a marriage. These people believe that gays want to feel justified, meaning that as a couple they should be able to define their own marriage for themselves and make their own set of rules. Supports of same-sex marriages feel as though homosexuals are being deprived of their God given right to get married. They believe that arguments against same sex marriages are unconstitutional, and they simply do not justify a ban on same sex marriages. It is not the idea of two people of the same sex getting married that frightens people so much, but it is the thought of change and the fact that the federal government will redefine marriage to allow same sex unions. When people picture the results of same sex marriages, they see images of unstable homes. Everyone would probably agree that homosexuality has changed our society, and legalizing same sex marriages is not likely to be an exception. Katha Pollitt, writer of “What’s Wrong with Gay Marriage?” depicts several reasons why people oppose to same sex marriage and among them, the most controversial reason is religion. Even though societies may think legalizing gay marriage will provide established homes for children who are left in orphanages and add financial earnings to state, marriage as it is, is between a man and a woman. Objection to gay marriage are based on religious prejudgment because a marriage of a man and a women is sacred and the approval of same sex marriage will disrupt the sacral institution, in fact, surveys demonstrate an outstanding connection of religiosity with opposition to gay marriage. Gay marriage is mismatch with religious beliefs, sacred texts, and traditions of many religious groups.
