Professionalism: When thinking about professionalism
When thinking about professionalism and professionalism in nursing there can be similar aspects between the two. When most people think about professionalism they might think of a lawyer, a doctor, or maybe a professor. Others might think of some one you have respect, responsible, honest, maintain profession boundaries, or life long learning experience. All these aspect are correct. The five aspect that should be shown in the nursing field are: having a attitude of pride and desire to grow professionally, cheerfulness optimism and desire to learn new skills, interest in helping to solve problems of others, respect for opinion and judgment of other and respects for the rules and regulations of nursing profession. Those are the five very important attitudes that should be shown in the nursing field. This is due to the interpersonal relationship needed to deal with very sick people (David, Deena, 2010). Dealing with sick people can be a stressful event. Nurses’ deals with the same patients for a very long time therefore, they need more commitment to work with them. The attitude of a nurse will help in a successful nursing practice in such situations. The attitude that is acceptable for professional nurses is respect for the rules and regulation of nursing profession. Each profession has its own rules and regulations depending on the kind of work that is done. This professional pride and desire will help them to climb the ladder to success very quickly. Cheerfulness optimism and desire to learn new skills; the nurse who wants to be successful needs to be cheerful with optimism and desire to learn new skills.
