Mission/ Purpose The current data network is 10 years old, EoL and out of warranty. We can still maintain the network with a premium service package, but the cost is 4 times what last year’s maintenance cost was. Our plan is to replace the network over a 2 year period. This refresh will meet goals of the company by Improving services, helping achieve the 5x9s initiative that was put out last year, and reduce cost over the life of the new solution.
SOW
Phase 1
Replace Avaya Core Routers with a viable Ethernet solution
Redesign network topology in preparation for phase 2
Phase 2
Replace edge switches (i.e. Server, PC, Phone stacks) with viable Ethernet solution
Increase bandwidth by using fiber instead of copper connections between the edge devices and the core routers
Objectives
We will be refreshing the Data Network which is not under warranty anymore, with this refresh we will be able to take advantage of newer technology that has been introduced over the past 10 years. Another goal is to increase uptime by looking into a more redundant, robust solution. Our goal, to achieve 5x9s.
Business Need
To provide our customers service above and beyond their current expectations we need a modern network. This network should have the ability to expand as our company grows. Faster ports and newer technology to drive us into the next decade. Resiliency and redundancy will play a large part, helping us achieve our goal of 5x9s.
