In this the essay, I would be discussing about the different approaches relating to health education. Explaining two models of behaviour change that have been used in recent national health education campaigns and also, I would be assessing how the social context may influence the ability of health education campaigns to change behaviour in relation to health.

In this part of the assignment, I would be discussing about three types of approaches relating to health education and also give an example of National health campaigns that uses the approach with a clear explanation of how they aim to promote behaviour changes and they are:
Social Marketing - This can be defined as an approach used to develop activities aimed at changing or maintaining people’s behaviour for the benefit of individuals and society as a whole. Social also involves consideration of products planning, pricing, communication, distribution and marketing research.
This approach aims to educate people to change their behaviour in the sense that social marketers use a wide range of health communication strategies based on mass media. Social marketers also use other modes of communication and marketing methods such as message placement and promotion.
Example of a National health campaign that uses this approach to promote behaviour change is the Stoptober Campaign. This campaign is
Role of Mass Media – Mass Media can simply be defined as a medium of communication such as radio, television and print. It can also be defined as a large-scale organisation which uses one or more of these technologies to communicate with large numbers of people. The role of Mass Media can have a positive effect as well as a negative on an individual.
