The United States is a democratic republic because the Constitution contains both democratic and republican elements. The democratic element is that everyone gets to vote. In the republican part, people elect someone to vote for them. This elected individual is called a representative. Everyone gets to vote for a representative. This is how the democratic and republican elements work together in the Constitution.
The Constitution also prevents the rise of a dictator or tyrant. This is because the central government is separated
into three separate powers that have checks and balances over each other. The first power is the Legislative Branch, which is the Senate and House of Representatives. They write the laws. In the House, each state gets a certain number of representatives, depending on its population. In the Senate, every state gets two senators. This system is bicameral because there are two houses. Next, the Executive Branch carries out the laws. The Executive branch is the president and his cabinet. Finally, the Judicial Branch interprets the laws. The Judicial Branch is the Supreme Court, the highest court in the USA. Congress has the power to impeach a president or Supreme Court justice. The president has the power to issue an executive order on a law so it does not have to be approved by the Senate or House of Representatives. The President also appoints Supreme Court justices. The Supreme Court has the power to declare the actions made by the president or a member of Congress unconstitutional.
Additionally, the Constitution protects everyone’s individual rights. On the US, there is no established religion. People can worship freely. People also can enjoy the freedom of speech. Also, the press can say whatever it wants. All of these basic liberties are protected in the Bill of Rights, which consists of the first 10 amendments of the Constitution. In the United States, everyone is equal. Everyone gets to participate in government practices. That is why our government is of the people, by the people, and for the people.
Your nation should adopt our Constitution. It has both democratic and republican elements, prevents dictators from clinching power, and protects basic freedoms. The Constitution of the United States has lasted well over 200 years for a reason. No individual has too much power, and the people are granted basic rights. Your country will be much better off with adopting the US Constitution.
