This summer, I was fortunate enough to get an internship on a local U.S. Congress campaign. I live in the Pennsylvania 8th district and worked on the campaign of Kathy Boockvar, Democratic challenger to Republican incumbent Mike Fitzpatrick. I was able to meet many interesting people and clarify my own political ideals, but most importantly I got to learn about campaigns and the election process.…
The candidates of the election of 1948 included Harry S. Truman (Democratic Party), Thomas E. Dewey (Republican Party), and Strom Thurmond (Dixiecrat Party). Harry S. Truman directed his campaign towards 4 groups: laborers, farmers, Negroes, and consumers. Thomas E. Dewey decided the best way to win the election would be to avoid addressing controversial issues, and he wasn’t very specific in what he planned on doing as president. Strom Thurmond criticized and opposed Truman’s ideas for civil rights. The election of 1948 was considered a dramatic upset because almost every prediction made about the election was in favor of Thomas E. Dewey; however, Harry S. Truman ended up being the winner of the election. Henry Wallace, the 33rd Vice President…
3. Republicans rejected isolationist Robert A. Taft and instead chose World War II hero Dwight D. Eisenhower to run for president and California anticommunist Richard M. Nixon to be his running mate (pleased Taft’s supporters a bit).…
My strategy in the game was to make appearances in states that shared one or more of my issue positions. Throughout the rounds, I often began by fundraising in order to pay for my appearances, media, and polling. When I raised $3, I was able to fund all three options. However, because my opponent eventually took the lead, I was often only able to fundraise from states that offered $2. In such cases, I always chose to make an appearance. However, I alternated between choosing to poll new states or create a campaign advertisement.…
The presidential election of 1801 was against Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr. It was an extremely close and hostile election. In fact, the first results of it was a tie. To break the tie, the ballot went up to the House of Representatives. Each state had one vote. This is where things got really heated! A young lad named Alexander Hamilton thought the election had terrible candidates. However, he saw Jefferson as the less of two evils. With this in mind, he went around persuading others to vote for Jefferson. Jefferson won on the 36th attempt to break the tie. Once his first term was over, he became a candidate for the election of 1804. He went against Charles Pinckney. Because Jefferson did so well during his first term, the…
In the first contested presidential election in American history, Adams won a narrow electoral majority (71–68) over Jefferson, who thereby became vice president. Adams made an initial effort to bring Jefferson into the cabinet and involve him in shaping foreign policy, but Jefferson declined the offer, preferring to retain his independence. This burdened the Adams presidency with a vice president who was the…
When candidates compete in a campaign they have to stand out and set themselves apart from the others. The candidates would talk about important topics that they would like to change and raise awareness towards the major issues. Depending on their viewpoints on the issues helps them develop a fan base which helps them receive votes. Voter’s elects the person who they feel is more compatible for the position of being president. Voter looks for someone who is going to change things for the better and make the nation better.…
After losing the election of 1796 to his friend John Adams, Jefferson was elected Vice President. During this…
It occurs every four years, the United States is in an election cycle. During this campaign season, however, has been unlike any election ever taken place in modern history. Beginning with a large pool of candidates, the primary elections, primarily among the Republican party took an extremely negative unexpected turn. Many voters feel that the remaining candidates for both Democratic and Republican party are very disappointing. The two parts appear to be strongly divided and in deep turmoil. Who has inspired me as a voter, and who has put up the best, and most honest fight to be in office is Bernie Sanders…
The 21st century dawned on a completely different presidency compared to one produced at the conclusion of the 1700s. Constitutional provisions confined early presidency, even though celebrities of the very first three George Washington, Steve Adams, and Thomas Jefferson — formed it in to a more powerful place by early 1800s. But, through the entire 1800s before 1930s, Congress was the principal part of the national government. Then, before seventy decades roughly, the total amount of energy has moved significantly, so the government part presently has at the least equivalent capacity to the legislative branch. How did that change occur?…

Presidency has changed in many ways since the founding fathers created the idea of having a president that will run the country. There are many ways they changed but one way they did change is by the way the new presidents run things. Presidential making has more importance than the congressional party because the president has the final saying into whatever. Ever since Theodore Roosevelt came into his presidential party he created a…
We became good friends during the 5th and 6th grade when we were both bullied by the same person claiming to be our friend. She would emotionally blackmail us, manipulating our emotions and perception. During the 6th grade, she took advantage of our fear and turned us against each other. Telling us that the other person was lying or that the other person was going to get us in trouble or expelled. We eventually made up after a week upon realizing that it was her that was lying. To deal…
Due to the fact that after the 2000 Election, there was not a clear victory for either side, both the Democratic and Republican parties were fighting for their candidate to become the 54th president of the United States. The protesting and arguing went through many courts, and eventually got all the way to the United States Supreme Court. However, in the end the Vice-President Al Gore and the Democratic party was defeated by Governor George Bush and the Republican party.…
I was fortunate enough to go to nursing school with my best friend Harley. We had gone to school since Elementary school. I knew that if we did it together that I would make it to graduation. I was right we did make it to graduation. We had some difficulties and it was a very stressful time in our lives, but we made it.…
