Tips For Buying A Gun Safe For Your Home

If you have one or more guns in your home, then you need a gun safe for storing them. A safe keeps the guns out of the hands of your kids and it also protects your investment against theft. There are several kinds of gun safes on the market, and they are available in all price ranges. You should definitely buy the best safe you can afford since more expensive safes generally provide the best protection against theft and fire. Here are a few things to keep in mind when buying your new gun safe.

Choose The Right Size

Give careful thought to the size you need because chances are, you'll wish you had bought a larger safe. If you plan to add to your collection of guns or use the safe to store other things like jewelry, cash, or important documents, you'll want one that has plenty of room. Evaluate what you want to put in your safe now, and then buy a safe that can hold all of that and more. A larger safe is more expensive, but it is still less costly than buying one that is too small and then buying a bigger one later.

A strong and durable safe isn't much good if the lock can be picked or snapped off with bolt cutters. For the ultimate security, you could choose a biometric locking mechanism. Code it with your fingerprint and the safe will only open if it's your finger on the locking pad. This type of lock could give you peace of mind if you have kids in the house as it guarantees kids will never be able to open the safe. Another popular locking mechanism is the electronic or digital lock that requires the right code to operate the door.

A gun safe can be a big investment if you buy a large one that is highly rated against fire and theft. However, guns are expensive too, and they are popular targets for thieves, so it is worth protecting your guns with the best safe you can

As mentioned earlier, Washington, D.C. and the United Kingdom adopted stringent gun control laws and it literally increased crime. If laws become too tough to handle, people will work their way around the laws. Owning or not owning a gun will not make people less susceptible to experiencing crime. In 2010, across four counties, 444 domestic homicides relating to guns were recorded. In only eight of these instances, the gun involved had been kept in the home. Furthermore, the instances when the gun in the home had been used, it is safe to say that it was used in self-defense. Most homicide victims are killed by weapons carried by the intruder (Lott, pg. 26,…

The U.S. Department of Justice defines robbery more elaborately as, the taking or attempting to take anything of value from the care, custody, or control of a person or persons by force, threat, violence or by putting the victim in fear. Armed robbery is also known as a heist, stickup, holdup or larceny by threat of violence (Farlex, 2007). Although gun control is an issue in this case, the topic of gun control is broad and would not focus enough on this aspect to create a heavy impact on the criminal statistics regarding armed robbery. Furthermore, because of the second amendment and the right to bear arms, there may be excessive issues related with the gun control that would assist in prevention of armed robberies. This paper will also focus on the philosophy that those who commit crimes over time are likely to escalate the offenses in severity of the crime (Conway & McCord, 2006). In response, legislation should include larger and more climatic punishments and treatments for repeat…

Concealed carry has been around since the beggining of America. It is our second amendment right to carry a concealed weapon in the public. In second amendment it states, “a well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to bear arms should not be fringed” (B). That means that people should have the right to have a weapon and defend themselves. That was obviously put into place a long time ago, but more recently they changed it a little bit. In the 2012 court case “moore vs. madigan” ruled that, “ The second amendment right to bear arms must be interpreted to include a right to have a concealed carry in public, to have it ready for use, and to have it for self defence” (B). That debate…

First of all, if a teacher were to conceal a gun at their side, a lot of potential for misuse may arise. For instance, in a demonstration or simple showcase to students of the firearm, shots may be fired accidentally. If those who are armed unconsciously switches off the safety, disaster may strike. Another considered idea was locking a gun in a safe, but this could pose just as many dangers. Teachers who do not pay close attention to the safe could risk a student meddling with it or stealing a key which allows a potential break in, thus allowing a student to get ahold of a gun more easily to turn on other fellow students.…

According to Lepore (2012), “In 1973, there were guns in roughly one in two households in the United States; in 2010, one in three. In 1980, nearly one in three Americans owned a gun; in 2010, that figure had dropped to one in five” (Battle Ground America). The number one reason for owning a gun is for protection.
