Why don’t democrats like climate change? Do you feel the same way about democrats? “Democrats believe that climate change poses a real and urgent threat to our economy, our national security, and our children’s health and futures, and that Americans deserve the jobs and security that come from becoming the clean energy superpower of the 21st century.” If climate change continues, it will melt the polar ice caps. Climate change also interferes with the quality of the air. It is a national security threat. Worst of all, climate change affects children’s health and futures. For example, “In recent years, they have had to battle an increasing number of respiratory illnesses, allergies, infections, and immunosuppressive disorders” (Epstein sec. 1 par. 1). This quote relates back to the fact that democrats believe climate change affects children because children had to fight a lot of illnesses and disease because of climate change. Democrats believe that they can’t leave the children of the next generation a destroyed planet. They want the children to be healthy and have a clean energy economy. There are 2 major problems- sea level rise and ocean acidification. Sea level rising is massively affecting the rice crops in China, they are being flooded with salt water which destroys the crops. It is also mixing up stream in rivers contaminating aquifers and drinking water crippling villages ( Skeptical Science Sec. 6 Par. 6). Ocean acidification is another massive issue in result of climate change. In the article “positives and Negatives Of Global Warming” on skepticalscience.com they say that, “A cause for considerable concern, there appear to be no benefits to the change in pH of the oceans. This process is caused by additional CO2 being absorbed in the water, and may have severe destabilising effects on the entire oceanic food-chain.” showing that because of a few degrees difference it can mess up a whole system that we rely on massively, and other animals; causing a chain reaction.
Climate change is a real threat to our children, animals, and our own health. With C02 emissions from melting ice caps or sea level rising killing crops.
