I think that this statement is a very clear cut statement, but life is not clear cut, there are many gray areas in life and in therapy. This being said, it is difficult to state something so bold about a field that is constantly changing. If you think about it, all “evidence-based treatment” at some point in time had no evidence to support said treatment. Although, I can say that I believe it is unethical for a therapist to use a treatment that has absolutely no evidence behind it. If I was a client and my therapist shared with me a treatment he or she wanted to try; I would feel as though I was like an experiment. I think it is important to allow a client to feel confident in the ability and knowledge you have as a therapist, and using treatment that proven valid and affective does just this. As I have written this reflection, I have come to realize that while I remain neutral I see that the pros outweigh the cons. I think that it is a therapist’s job to do what is best for the client, and if that means providing assurance in their treatment; then it is imperative to use treatment that is supported by
