To begin, children who are home schooled have no social aspect. Being at school is how you learn to socialize. As the textbook say, “Socialization is the process by which people learn characteristics of their group's norms, values, attitudes, and behaviors”(Socialization page 1). Going to school is how we learn these basic values of socialization. Being home schooled doesn’t prepare children for college or the work force. If students are not enrolled in school, they don’t have the opportunity to be involved. An important aspect of school is being an involved and well-rounded student. Not that this is a bad aspect of home schooling, but I’m sure as a parent it’s nice to have some down time. Homeschooling your children also adds stress to your day. You have to make sure you’re educating your children the correct way and make sure you’re teaching them how to do things right. Homeschooling is a big leadership skill as a parent. When parents set aside time to educate their children at home, they sacrifice their own time. As a parent, you already have enough to balance so why add more stress to your day?
Another topic regarding home school is cost. It costs money to get the curriculum, the tools, and the supplies to become an educator for your children. Regular public school is free, and there is just as much learning.
To me, home school is a waste of time. It makes children lazy because they will lack motivation since their parents are their educators. You also lose the social aspect of school. School teaches you how to become a better individual and prepares you for your future. At home school, you learn nothing about your future and the work force. Home school may be an option for some people but at the end of the day they’re taking the easy way
