It is my responsibility to take care of myself and other people affected by my work. To be responsible for correct use of products and equipment. In accordance with Health & Safety at work Act 1974.
b. What are your responsibilities under local authority licensing regulations for yourself and your premises?
Under Local Authority Regulations, as a therapist you are required to have a license in order to treat, and also a license for the premises. Your premises can be inspected by environmental health to make sure standard are met. You must Have client consultation cards, Adhere to the Code of ethics, and have suitable lighting, heating and ventilation.
c. Why is it important to not discriminate against clients with illnesses and disabilities?
As a provider you have a legal responsibility to ensure clients are not discriminated against on the ground’s of disability. You cannot provide a lesser standard. They are protected by The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995
d. At what age is an individual classed as a minor and how does this differ nationally?
A minor is someone under the age of 16.
e. Why is it important to have a parent or guardian present when treating minors, under 16 years of age?
Parents should be present and be aware of what’s taking place. They are minors and can’t make a decision
f. Why should minors not be given services without informed and signed parental or guardian consent?
Parents could sue the salon or beauty therapist, should anything go wrong with treatment
g. What is the legal significance of gaining signed, informed client consent to the services?
Getting a signed consultation form meets insurance purposes. In case anything goes wrong.
