The lone time is the time that I sit down and reminisce on how far I have gone with the things that I have planned to achieve. When I was a child, I would always play pretend by sitting down with my family members or house guests and tear out a piece of notebook paper and hand my “patients” a glass of water. Then I would ask them questions I thought real psychologists would, such as “how are you feeling?” or “so, what brings you here today?”. Experimenting with this role-play as a little girl has allowed me to learn about myself, as well as my interests, to help me decide what I want to be when I grow up. Taking classes on the scientific study of humans and pediatric development, working with kids, and my volunteering experience will help me achieve my goal of becoming a clinical pediatric psychologist.…

I first became interested in a career in psychology ever since I was a child. Psychology field has many different opportunities to explore. When I first started college, I did not know what field I wanted to get into. After a few years in college, I realized that I wanted to go into Clinical mental health working with adolescents. During my years in college, I was accepted to do an internship at Naomi Family Center. While I was there I worked with many different specialists in the field of psychology. The most interesting part of the whole experience was working with the therapist who worked with adolescent children. I have faced many trials in my life: emotionally, mentally, and physically, etc. In my youth, my family and I moved every couple of years because my father serves in the Army. Each move introduced new challenges and adjustments. I have lived in five different states, but six different cities. I constantly had to learn how to readjust to my new environment. Moving taught me how to adapt socially , but always starting out as “the new girl” or an “outsider” was burdensome. Repeatedly leaving people I cared about hurt me emotionally, but I also knew that I couldn’t linger in my feelings or else I would miss out on other life opportunities. In order to overcome the feeling of being an outsider, I joined school clubs, participated in extracurricular activities such as soccer and track, and volunteer at church.…
