Domestic:
Distillation - In the process of distillation water is heated and evaporation takes place, whereby water changes back to water when cooled; this process is called condensation. The condensed water is the purest form of water, free from microbes, and impurities.
Boiling - Boiling is the best and simplest method to purify water. After straining the water twice through clean muslin cloth, it is boiled for ten minutes lo kill the microbes present in it and also remove the temporary hardness of water.
Filtration - Different varieties of filters are used to purify the water at domestic level. Filter rods can be installed. These rods are made of china porcelain and it is porous and hollow from the centre. When water is put through it, it is purifies and drips in out clean into a small tank, ready for use.
Industrial:
This water is usually purified by huge tanks, which are either carbon, sand and or multi media based. The water passes through a mesh screen to remove big parts. Chemicals are then added to make solids and microbes fall to the bottom. The water is then filtered through gravel beds to remove all solids and finally it is chlorinated to kill off any harmful microbes left.
Lab:
Totally pure water is produced by distillation, which is boiling the water to make steam and condensing it to get totally pure water.
