and Maddie who go through lots of sticky situations that prove that you should always believe in yourself, to succeed you must first think that you can do it!
Wein creates a suspenseful and also hysterical mood to describe what Verity and Maddie to help describe what is going on.
Verity writes, “She was anxious last night because she didn’t think that I’d cough up enough facts to count as a proper little Judas yesterday.” This basically tell the relationship of her and Miss E, Verity likes to test her patience and make her very upset. In this quote is shows what Verity has to do for the next 4 weeks she will be telling information that she is not suppose to be doing, hence why she called herself a Judas. The author states another thing that helps making the situation suspenseful like, “Madde said nothing. She was peering into the dark and flying plane. Queenie gripped her shoulder again.” This shows suspense because You don’t know what will happen to Maddie and Julie. Also while I was reading this section I was wondering why were they flying the plane so close to the …show more content…
ground.
Also in the book Wien creates multiple instances where Von.
Linden is outsmarted by Julie and she keeps her faith alive for one more week at a time. “I has got him by the balls and he knew it. I feel about laughing, instantly myself again.” When ever she would bring up his daughter he would basically give her another week because it would remind him of lying to his daughter and make him miss him. Another incident would be when Verity and The Frech girl was taken to the courtyard and where Marie was killed. “Write little Scheherazade.” This tells me that even though he was very upset with her he would still give her more time because she would always bring up his daughter and that would make him very emotional and make him have sympathy towards
her.
What Maddie and Verity learned in this book was to always believe in yourself, even when there are tough times you need to stay strong because you may never know what may lie ahead for you. First I stated that she created a very suspenseful and hysterical mood. This was showed in multiple occasions throughout the entire book. Which in my opinion made the book a little more interesting. Lastly I stated that Verity has a little smart mouth and can get herself out and in some trouble from this. This showed that even though she was a Nazi prisoner she could have gotten herself killed! But she didn’t care because she already knew she was going to be killed and she would rather have a fun time and being silly than just being boring and having no fun.
