This ballet school made its first appearance in 1960 when Charles Lisner OBE established it as the Lisner Ballet Academy. Two years later it was re-named to its current name - Queensland Ballet. Charles was the artistic director of the academy between 1960 and 1974. He was born in 1928 and lived until he unfortunately died of cancer at age 60. With Li as the artistic director, the company has never looked better as his choreography and technique reflects positively on all of the dancers. The main objective that Li wants for his ballet school is to give young ballerinas clear carrier pathways as to what the future holds for the students at the academy. In 2017, pupils from Queensland Ballet will be performing classical ballet dances such as Raw, Swan Lake, La Fille mal gardee and Bespoke. Due to extreme popularity, they will be performing Peter Pan and The Nutcracker for the second time.
In conclusion, Queensland Ballet has definitely had very good influences and recommendations but seeing as though they include a mix of ballet and contemporary dance into their pieces, there could be more contemporary aspects included into their dances. Overall, Queensland Ballet is doing better than its ever done which gives us high hopes for whats next to
