In the essay “A Quilt of a Country” there was a statement that stood out. “But patriotism is partly taking pride in this unlikely to throw us all together in a country... by one name about patriotism”(Quindlen 16).It is a similarity to Kennedy’s essay because Quindlen states in this part of the essay that “patriotism is taking pride in this unlikely to throw us all together in a country” and Kennedy said “that America is made up of immigrants in our country and immigrants take pride in our country because they wanted a better life”. “Every ethnic minority in seeking its own freedom helped strengthen the fabric of liberty in America life” (Kennedy 24). I believe that it is a clear similarity first because Kennedy said “every minority which are stating different race, and ethnic group”. Which in “A Quilt of a Country” is talking about family’s moving to the United States for a better life. Also fabric of liberty in America life which in “A Quilt of a Country” metaphorically speaking about America in a quilt made of different ethnic groups, minorities, and more.
