People in our society tend too have racist habits towards people that are African American, Asian, East Indian etc. They get treated differently not only because of their skin color but also how they talk and what they wear. Before we meet people we tend too judge them on their skin color or what kind of cultural clothing they are wearing, I can admit that I have been judgmental on somebody’s skin color before and what they are wearing. I bet all of you have judged somebody else on his or her skin color before as well, even if it was simply just moving too the other side of the street at night when you see an African American man walking towards you.
Personal Story
My auntie’s friend had a son that she adopted when he was around 2 years old, he was African American and he never thought anything different of himself being in a white family. It just felt normal too him. But one day he went too school and he didn’t have any friends yet in his class because of the new school year. But then he came home one day ran straight too the bathroom closed the door and locked it. When they finally got it opened they found him using white dove soap on his skin too wash off the black because he felt that only people with white skin could have friends.
Problem
Unrightful accusations of people cause of there skin color, for example east Indian people getting random searches at the airport, not everybody is a terrorist just cause they have a turban, or the Asian guy driving, not all Asians are bad drivers they are just stereo typed too be bad drivers so that’s how everybody thinks.
How to change
Talk to the people first don’t just assume and judge them because you don’t know who they are until you spend time with them, maybe your stereotype is right but that doesn’t mean you need too be racist and it doesn’t mean everybody is the same. (Etc. not all Asians are bad drivers but some may be)
