This is the scene in which Gerry has an epiphany about how he acts towards the players on his team and people in general. The evidence is when Coach Boone makes the team run to the Gettysburg memorial to give them a speech about racism. This happens to occur after the scene where Julius responds to Gerry’s criticism with “Attitude reflects leadership”. This then leads up to his epiphany. It is clear to the audience that during these scenes Gerry’s opinion of race and relationship with Julius is changing. After the memorial scene is the next training session. This is when Gerry’s changed opinion is shown as he stops singling out the black players and treating the team as a whole. His friendship with Julius is also affected when it becomes less of a hateful relationship as they celebrate together after a successful block. Towards the end of the film is when it is clear that Gerry’s attitude has changed for the better when he calls Julius his
