The Harm Racism Racism has been a part of human life since the very beginning of human interaction. There is no exact time on and where racism has started but it has affected the society that we live in, in major conflicting ways.Racism is basically the belief that all members of each race has characteristics and or abilities that is specific in a race and that is when prejudice acts and discrimination and can into play. Many human beings we are competitive and want to be on top all the time and so an easy way to reach that goal is to commit acts of racism such as verbally abusing others to make themselves look superior.Racism has affected the past, the present and will affect the future if it continues to progress. No one will truly understand if racism will one day end or will it continue to be a part of society but the more we know about the situation, the more we can do to help the problem. No one knows when racism began or where is started but it was clear that racism was a major part of history. African American had been a target of racism dating back to the 1600’s. For example, slavery was a very big issue in the past that had involved the white race being superior over the black race. Because of the skin color of the African American’s, the white race had forced all dark skin color people into hard treacherous labor. Enormous amounts for African people had died because of slavery and so society in the past was hard lived by certain races. In fact, Racism was so major in the past that certain people have risked their lives to help those in desperate need to fight against racism. Martin Luther King Jr., one of the greatest men who ever lived, stood up against racism for the African Americans. Even though Martin Luther King Jr. won the non-physical fight against racism, it has not yet ended.The functionalist theory
