When it comes to African Americans, they believe that police in general do not really care, they do whatever they want, brutally torture and neglect the black race. The goal of the black lives matters movement is to stop the violence and the killing of innocent black people by the police. Black lives matter is a diverse moment that aims to bring equality and to strengthen our community. Black lives matter believe that we can put an end to police brutality by coming together in unity as a community. A saying goes that “divided we fall united we stand”. I am a living witness of police bias. On my moving day to St Bonaventure, my family and I were in the car driving and got pulled over by a white cop for no reason. The police officer asked to check our car, just because we are black they suspected something illegal must be in our car. Our society needs to put an end to police brutality. We shouldn’t have to wait for the government to pass a law. We as a community should learn to embrace each other, and stop thinking that one race is better than the other. People might think that I’m being racist or taking sides, but all I demand is equality for all; imagine yourself being an outcast in your own country where the society treats you like savages. While on the other hand, some people might disagree with the Black lives matter moment saying all life matters not just black, I think black lives matter is not a biased moment, it’s based on the fact that black people are the ones that are mostly targeted by the police. I know for sure that racism will never be disappear, but what I also know is that we are the change, it’s all up to us to reduce racism. We should learn to love each other despite our differences.
