Most times, the thoughts and ideas of young teens can be categorized by adults as “immature”, or “thoughtless”. These ideas cause teens and young adults to reach social media to portray their outlook on certain topics where most of these networking sites contain other teens. A popular movement triggered by the fateful shooting of Mike Brown, in August 2014 changed the way young teens thought, especially young teens of color. The Black Lives Matter movement suggests that black citizens, as well as citizens of color should be brought to the same standard as white U.S. citizens in society, and in court. These opinions of the youth are often portrayed in social media platforms such as Twitter and Tumblr, forming communication and examples in which black teens have faced injustice. Their ideas opens new doors and triggers topics that should be discussed more socially and forced and challenges the news to portray truthful topics of people regardless of race, and to stop cleansing white crimes, and categorizing black people as “thugs”. This shows that even ordinary citizens have the power to foster a movement, and that their opinions are important because it allows people to comprehend the racial preference the government hides, while they preach equality.
