Option 1: Media Event
This paper will discuss (1) the historical details of the media event itself, (2) the importance of this event or object at the time, and (3) the cultural impact that this event had on society in general, the development of mass media, and on contemporary American life. (Sample topics: the first photograph, the film Citizen Kane, the publication of the first issue of Time magazine, Television News in the Vietnam War, Internet Blogs and the Iraq War). Option 2: Person who shaped Media
This paper will discuss (1) the historical details about this person and what they contributed to mass media, (2) the importance of this person and their contribution, and (3) the way in which this person’s contribution continues to affect society today. (Sample topics: Joseph Pulitzer, Alexander Graham Bell, Walter Cronkite, Henry Luce).

Content Criteria
Your paper should be organized as a formal research paper and include the following sections
1. Introduction
2. Historical Background (the event itself, and what happened)
3. Cultural Impact (how this person/event impacted society at the time)
4. Lasting Importance (how this event has impacted society over the course of time, up to the present day)
5. Conclusion Sources
You should have a minimum of five sources in your works cited page, in APA or MLA format. This is a minimum! More sources is always better, and will probably make your job much easier in the long run. Yes, format counts!
Length
This paper should be a minimum of 4 full pages, not including references or any cover pages. If a paper is to be of superior quality (as would earn a B+ or A), it should be longer than the minimum required length.
