Abduction and Rape of Persephone (Goddess of the Underworld)
Hades wished to have a wife, and fell in love with Persephone because of her beauty
He abducted and raped her, and took her to the Underworld
The abduction and her consequent disappearance occurred without many eye witnesses
Demeter longed to see her daughter after her disappearance
When Demeter knew of Hades’ obligations, she found him unsuitable a companion
Persephone was tricked into consuming a single pomegranate seed (anyone who consumes food in the underworld must stay)
Zeus sent Hermes to the Underworld to bring Demeter her daughter, hoping to seize the famine that Demeter has caused
A deal was made: she would spend half of each year (or ⅓) in the Underworld with Hades and

The myth of Orpheus, the son of Apollo and Calliope, was blessed with lyrical talents. A gift presented to him by his father at the time of his birth. The most memorable story of Orpheus was that of his love Eurydice.
