Raymond's Run Squeaky Quotes
In the story, “Raymond's Run,” the character Squeaky is a girl that lives in Brooklyn, NY. She comes with from a low- income family and she also loves to run. I believe that this character, Squeaky, is a very admirable character. One reason that she is admirable is because she stands up for what she believes in. The second reason is because she is a very honest person. The last reason she is a very admirable character is because she is an extremely confident person.

One of the reasons that Squeaky in the book, “Raymond’s Run,” is an admirable character is because she stands up for what she believes in. For example one the second page of the story she talks about how Cynthia does not like to show that she practices but, Squeaky does not care to show people that she practices. So she shows

For example when Squeaky says,” In the first place, no one can beat me and that is all to it.” This is important because she is always confident in herself and her running that she will always win. This is a good thing because if someone said something mean to her she would not listen and she will keep believing in herself. Another time that she was confident in herself was when she says So then I think that I will just straight through them. This is just a line but it symbolizes that she will walk right through anyone that tries to get in her way. Also that she will walk over any haters of hers. Another example of confidence is when she stands up for Raymond when she is talking to Rosie on the street. She stands up for Raymond by saying,” If you have anything to say to my brother you say it to me.” This means that not care for what anyone has to say mean to her. Also this means that she will have the confidence to stand up to her brother no matter what anyone says to her. She does not only have confidence in herself she has the confidence to keep Raymond safe and

At the beginning, of “Raymond’s Run,” we can see that Squeaky is mightily defencive. She would much rather just fight you instead of talking to you. For example, “I much rather just knock you down and take my chances,” This shows she probably isn’t the best at making friends because of her attitude. Also, Squeaky takes care of her special needs brother. She is supremely protective of him. For instance, in the story…

The state of Petristan in the Indian subcontinent spreads across the watershed of Paratha River system to the west and Korma River in the East. The early civilization of the Paratha Valley has been acknowledged as one of the past glories of southern Asia ranging from 2700 to 1700 B.C. Today, recent findings have suggested that this civilization was profoundly influential on the formation of the Petristan state. Therefore, the Petristan State Archaeological Survey has investigated 5000 sherds derived from eighteen probably states which were selected by random sampling techniques. Fifteen sites that are thought be single-period villages and three urban sites, Garam Masala, Tiltandula and Phul-Gobi, were carefully looked at. In order to derive a chronological order of these assemblages, the relative dating method of seriation has been implemented. Through this, the initial development of Petristan through the influence of Paratha Valley can be understood to a further extent.…

Steinbeck presents Candy as a character to be pitied in many ways: When Carlson demands that Candy removes the dog from the bunkhouse, this makes us pity Candy as he feels he has to apologise for the smell, even though he has “.. been around him so much” that he no longer notices “..how he stinks.”…

The American baseball player and coach John Wooden once said, “It’s the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen”. In the nonfiction novel Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, Louis Zamperini demonstrates his cleverness when he pulled himself out of countless life-threatening situations, such as devising a plan to capture sharks, that would prove to be the end for most others. Louie made the most out of what little resources he had and paid attention to the details that would help him in the future. Even in the grips of death, Louie used his quick wit to bring himself back to the land of the living and keep himself going.…

At that moment, Amir is fighting against Assef, but he’s also sacrificing his life to save Sohrab as like Hassan sacrificed himself for Amir 26 years ago. Although Amir is badly beaten, he actually feels relieved as the guilt that he’s been suffering all his life has now been atoned for. From this quote, I learn that without being able to forgive yourself for your mistakes, you can’t have a fulfilled life. And, forgiveness only comes when you have truly tried to atone for your…

At the start of “Raymond’s Run” we all notice just how protective Squeaky is. Part of that is because she has a tough life and takes care of her disabled brother Raymond. Squeaky doesn’t want to ta with you she’d “Much rather knock you down and take my chances.” Squeaky will fight you if you ask for it. Squeaky loves running, but she doesn’t settle for good- only the best- and only the first place medal. When Squeaky saw the girls coming down the block she said “They are steady coming up broadway and I see right away that it’s going to be one of those Dodge City scenes because the street ain’t that big and they’re close to the buildings as we are.” Which basically is a showdown. Both of these quotes show that Squeaky is defencive and it seems like at this point angry and protective changes to…

In the book Lord of the Flies the beast, at first was nothing more than a product of the boys’ imagination. The beastie is briefly mentioned by the boy with the mulberry birthmark in chapter two. He talks about the “snake-like thing”, and calls it a beastie. Majority of the boys agree that there is a beast and even claim that they saw it. One of the Littluns described their dream of their supposed encounter with the beast “I saw something moving among the trees, something big and horrid.”(5.91) The boys were daunted and intimidated by the idea of a beast existing on the island. Jack then influences the boys into hunting and killing the beast, which becomes a violent turning point in the book.On the other hand, Ralph and Piggy simply refuse to believe there is a beast. Later on, we get a real insight into the beastie. Piggy says the beast is just fear of the unknown "I know there isn't no beast—not with claws and all that, I mean—but I know there isn't no fear, either.”(5.90) Simon however had a different interpretation to what the beastie could be. He says that it is inside everyone and…

In The Storyteller, by Saki, the author uses the satirical devices of exaggeration, verbal as well as situational irony, caricature, parody, and incongruities to criticize the targets. The author uses exaggeration as well as caricature by repeatedly stating how “good” Bertha was. Verbal irony is used when the aunt complains about the fly because the fly can be considered as a symbol for the way the bachelor feels about the family. Situational irony and incongruities are achieved when the medals of obedience, good conduct, and punctuality clink together hinting to the wolf where Betha was hiding (leading to her death). Parody is present as a result of the use of the girl, the wolf, and the pigs (Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs).…
