According to the five characters of the imperialism, V.I. Lenin built the theory of imperialism by the Marxism’s basic stand, viewpoint and methods, which defined the imperialism as a special historical stage of the capitalism. His concept of imperialism contained that imperialism was the capitalist monopolies and parasitic and moribund capitalism.
1. Concentration of production and monopolies.
Lenin considered that monopolies were the new achievement of the capitalism in the latest phase. With the development of the capitalist economy, owing to the function of the law of value and competition, the capitalism was going toward the monopolist capitalism when the accumulation of capital and the concentration of product reached the certain extend. Lenin gave a profound analysis following four aspects:first,the monopolist alliances,like cartels,syndicates,trusts etc which arose out of the concentration of production had the fully advantage among the capitalist countries; second, monopolies controlled the most important industrial sector in capitalism society, especially the industrial department, for example the demands of coal industry and steel industry; third, bank became a monopolist of the financial capital by practicing the “personal link-up” between bank and industrial capital,dominating the vast majority of money capital and revenues,and controlling all of the political and economic institutions; forth,besides the original motives,monopoly had added the struggle for the sources of raw materials, for export of capital, for “sphere of influence”,even for economic territory in general,that was a monopoly possession of colonies.
