Some people can argue whether or not our school system provides the necessary amount of learning to get our children through life. However, it is true that not many children are able to live up to their full learning potential which is why schools nowadays provide helpful devices to teachers in order to make our children more interested in school thus making them learn that subject quicker and easier. Which is shown by countless times by caring teachers who are willing to do what is necessary for that student to learn, class competitions to motivate the students into being the best, and showing students the actual value of learning. This shows that reading and writing is very important no matter how silly or frustrating it may seem however schools have come to understand this dilemma and are willing to offer their students easy tools they could use or some quick steps that make writing that much easier. However what Alexie conveys in this essay is that reading and writing will be able to shape your life for the better and that so long as a student is able to be inspired by something no matter how trivial it may be, and this student will hopefully be able to write excellent sentences, paragraphs, and essays. Every student can be inspired if they so choose all they need is a little push in the right direction and some lessons from a good teacher. “Poetry”(217). It is said by Alexie that any student can do anything so long as they are able to apply themselves and tell themselves never to fail. It is also said that writing can be just of poetry and the meaning behind this is that poetry requires the right to feel some sort of an emotion in order to motivate themselves to write that piece and the same applies for writing a lengthy essay or even a short paragraph. Because of this students are succeeding more often when writing in high school and college courses showing that people need to find some sort of passion for what they write in order to actually succeed. “Real world”(204). Most students see school as nothing but a joke and useless however when it comes to the real world school means everything, and these students who thought schools were nothing but a joke will soon realise that they should have paid attention in school and will regret it for the rest of their lives.
