Reading Comprehension Worksheet

Respond to the following in 50 to 100 words each:

Describe your outcome from this week’s MyFoundationsLab® assignment.

The outcome from the My Foundations Lab assignment is that I need to work on annotating and setting better reading goals. Other than that I do not feel that this is a very educational learning tool. The reason I feel that way is because it collides with my learning style

Identify the skills you’ve learned this week. How could each of these apply to your academic work? How could each of these apply to your professional work?

The only thing I feel that I have learned from the My Foundations Lab this week is how to annotate better. This can apply to my academic and professional work because annotating is a great source for testing myself and having note that I need to remember for work or a class assignment.

Describe the reading and comprehension strategies you will employ. How will these help make you a more effective reader? The reading comprehension strategies I will employ are making sure I’m not hungry or anxious when it’s time for me to read. I don’t eat three meals a day like I should but I do snack most of the day. The only meals I usually eat are lunch and dinner and I snack in between. I will begin to eat three meals a day and do less snacking and eating heather.

What is “primary source material”? Explain why knowing how to identify and use primary source materials is important for academic reading and writing.

I believe the way to identify and use primary source materials is important to academic reading and writing because it helps people to be able to use real life experiences to help them understand what they are reading or writing. This I think will help the reader and the writer to

Primary sources are called “primary” because they are firsthand records of a past era or historical event. They are the raw materials, or the evidence, on which historians base their “secondary” accounts of the past. A rapidly growing number of history teachers today are using primary sources. Why? Perhaps it's because primary sources give students a better sense of what history is and what historians do. Such sources also help students see the past from a variety of viewpoints. Moreover, primary sources make history vivid and bring it to life. However, primary sources are not easy to use. They can be confusing. They can be biased. They rarely all agree. Primary sources must be interpreted and set in context. To do this, students need historical background knowledge. Debating the Documents helps students handle such challenges by giving them a useful framework for analyzing sources that conflict with one another.…

During my weekly readings I start by previewing and scanning information. I read titles and the beginning sentences to get a brief description of what it may be saying and realizing if I know the information or not. I take notes from each section and review the information throughout the week. I highlight information I believe to be important and useful towards discussion questions and assignments and or exams. Also I find a nice secluded area that way I can focus all of my attention towards my readings and fully understand what I am reading and apply it when needed.…

I was very impressed with the way the whole process went. You take an assessment in each subject and afterwards it tells you specifically what you need help with and what you have already mastered in each subject. I think this is great because after the assessment, you are not wasting your time completing problems you already know how to handle. You can focus all of your time and effort in what you need improvement in. And I was extremely surprised with my results through My Foundations Lab. I have always thought that math was my strongest subject. I actually scored lower in the math learning path than I did in the reading and writing learning paths. It was shocking. I know I have always been good with writing but I never thought I was as good in reading. I have always hated…

The most significant thing I learned last week was that I am able to take any given situation, as simple or complex it can be, and be able to analyze it thoroughly. By utilizing the IDDP (Identify, Differentiate, Determine, Predict) Structured Thinking Process, I am able to identify problems, recognize situations from what I have learned in class, differentiate an action appropriate or in appropriate, make a prediction, and I can determine what should be done in order to have a positive outcome based on all the information that I collect.…
