Reasoning Aptitude The reasoning career activity was a big help, I already knew that I was struggling in presentation and when I did this activity in my results it gave me a good amount of tips to help develop better presentation skills. I learned a lot from the tips they gave me I learned that before presenting my message, think of how I can communicate my genuine concern to the audience, and show them something in your presentation that clearly demonstrates my commitment to the message. I have to use appropriate body language to reinforce my spoken words, and ensure that the audience understands the importance of the message. Another good tip was to practice and rehearse important presentations in front of a mirror. If possible, I should gain access to a video or at least an audio tape recorder, and record my presentation. Play it back and make a note of areas that didn't come across so well and try again. This tip is the most helpful of all the tips I have received. Learning from my tips, persuasive communication can help me be a better speaker in the career that I choose. The ability to persuade is crucial in the business world. On a day-to-day basis, I need it to convince employees to work toward company goals or to persuade colleagues or clients to consider your ideas and suggestions. If I can master the art of persuasion, I can not only win the support of others, but I also will be able to unify my team and encourage them to work together.

During this persuasive speech, I once again started out slow (meaning during the introduction), but it eventually progressed and was much more easier to understand compared to the Informal Speech I had previously given. As soon as I had gotten more comfortable, it started to flow much better. My transitions between paragraphs made it clearer for my audience to follow. My points used were difficult to come by, but the goal of the speech to persuade my audience was still there and was still effective. If the points were more clear, the speech would have been better than it allegedly turned out. I do not have much strengths during my speeches, but what I can do to get better is to think of what I am going to say during my speech with the help…

Based on the career matches of my interest profiler by the University of Phoenix, I am conventional, enterprising, and realistic. Conventional meaning that I like a routine in my daily life. I am always striving to maintain a normal flow in my life and I don’t like when things change abruptly. I like the idea that I know exactly what is going to occur when I get to work each day and it has always been like that for the past 7 years or since I began my job as a data collector. The equipment changes, but it’s always the same procedures. I truly hate when someone tries to make some real drastic changes at work. Conventional can also refer to someone who prefers to work with data or detailed information. That’s probably why I do real well at my job collecting data on a daily basis. Saying that I am enterprising is saying that I would like to be a leader and someone who makes important decisions and also be able to take risk and like the business aspect of things. I was a leader for many years while serving in the United States Army and I led my soldiers in carrying out numerous tasks on a daily basis. Performed countless exercises throughout my military career. I took charge and made some very crucial decisions that involved lots of risk, while putting the life of my soldiers in danger ways. I tend to be a very realistic person, especially at home. I spent a lot of time tending and caring for my garden. It keeps me very occupied throughout my weekends at home. I also like to work on my cars and constantly doing modifications to them. Being realistic also involves working outside and I love the outdoors. Being outdoors make you enjoy life to its fullest, by appreciating nature and all its living creatures. I could not take an office job ever again, so I hope so. So based on the results from the interest profiler, I am not one bit surprise by the outcome. This is who basically I am.…

When trying to persuade the boss it is important to state the facts and make sure to check the validity of these facts that will be presented before it is put forward. Remember to quote your credible sources, as you may be asked about where your data arrived from. Analyze the persuasive effectiveness in terms of its logos, pathos, and ethos, if applicable, on what you are trying to convince your boss on. Use statistics and data that are current and choose reputable publications. Try to avoid logical fallacies. Presenting something that you want the boss to accept and give you the “wow” effect is important. You must make an effective entrance into a room. Walk tall and enter the room with a purposeful, confident stride. Give a firm handshake and smile. Having a positive attitude is a good way to start off a conversation.
