Reassigning Animals In National Park

However, there is one challenge in the event of reassigning animals from zoos to national parks, human safety. While there are not many animal attacks that occur in national parks, people tend to remember the ones that do happen because they are few and therefore surprising. What most people fail to realize, though, is that animals rarely attack and hardly ever kill. Those that do attack are most commonly grizzly bears and even then it was estimated that for every thirty million visitors there might be one death and for every two million visitors there was an estimated one injury (Herrero 1148). The chances of dying by animal attack in national park are small enough that people should not worry about it. In fact, there is a higher chance of
dying in a car accident than from a national park animal attack and the majority of people still drive every day. It is also clear that those who have been attacked usually initiate the problem, whether it is from threatening the animals or leaving trash at a camp site. It is not hard to avoid animal attacks and the coexistence between human and animal is, “dependent upon the behavior of people in these parks: their ‘user’ behavior, their garbage disposal, their attitudes, their values and their disruption and density (Herrero 1148). If people respect animals as the way that they would want to be treated than there will be no attacks. Since it is evident that the possibility of an animal attack in a national park relies on the human’s actions, animals in zoos should be moved to national parks. Out of all of the possible options discussed for an alternative to zoos, national parks are the best for the animals’ safety, reproduction, happiness, and future. Thus, zoos should be eradicated and all zoo animals should be relocated to national parks.
