Due to the current events of harassment from other external organisation the following recommendations are made concerning the prevention of workplace bullying:
Develop a no bullying policy which outlines and communicate clearly to each employee the workplace laws and regulations relating to bullying under the Anti Discrimination Legislation and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. The policy should be well defined and contain explicit consequences that will occur if a person is found to be bullying another. Also ensure that each employee knows the repercussions of what will happen if they are caught bullying.
Have mediation between parties to resolve the issue as soon as it occurs. Mediation can be facilitated by an independent party from an external source to ensure that the matter is not biased on one party and also that those involved can feel more open to discussion of the bullying. Another way that this can help is if the individuals involved, particularly the one bullying where to be counselled independently to establish the reasons towards their actions.
Implement a team building exercise where each member is required to attend whereby employees are all working together and gain a better understanding of each other outside a work environment. The team building can also tackle bullying in role playing exercises so everyone understands what it considered to be bullying.
Develop a confidentiality policy whereby victims are able to bring up the situation without been identified to colleagues. Confidentiality will allow an environment for victims to opening let known the correct person of that may be happening to them. A confidentiality policy will be able to reduce the stress on the victim and also help in the prevention of any further
