Although I developed these skills while working with kids, I feel these skills will useful in the current position opening. Also, I am a volunteer with the Hospitality team as an usher. Holding this position means that I already know a small part of the Hospitality position responsibilities, as well as, fellow team members. As a tutor, I was responsible for maintaining a positive and motivating learning environment while keeping the students on track. This meant building relationships with each student individually and finding what motivated them in order for them to do their very best. Along with building relationships, I taught multiple students as once and I was constantly multitasking while keeping focused on the task at hand. I was balancing my time between three or more students who were all working on different skills in different subjects while keeping track of what each student was learning, what lessons were next, and what skills needed extra attention from each student. Also, I had quickly if a lesson was not going according to plan or if we had technical …show more content…

My role varies in the class room; everyday brings a new learning opportunity. I am currently working three full days a week with year six. A class made up of twenty three very bright, talented nine to ten year old boys and girls and there very inspiring and motivated teacher. Although I say I work three days but more often then not it turns into a full week. (The children have that affect on you!) On a normal day (term used loosely) I help set up the class room before the children come in and any photocopying or printing that needs to be done , I will try and have complete before or during registration. Morning would usually consist of numeracy work followed on by literacy. I like to listen and take notes on what the children will be learning, even though the class teacher emails me the exercises a day before. But I strongly believe that it’s very important to have subject knowledge to be able to support the children.…

As a teaching assitant my main role is to support the class teacher whilst the ongoing assessment of pupils takes place. The teacher can measure the progress of each pupil by carrying out lessons and setting the children clear learning objectives. At the beginning of the lesson the learning support practitioner will need to be aware ob the learning objective and need to know what they are going to be supporting, once they know this then they will be able to show the children what they are going to do and how to achieve it. The day to day planning and lesson plans are the main responsibilities of the class teacher, but feedback and input from the teaching assistant can help the teacher structure the planned lessons. As well as the teacher having more responsibility in relation to their planning we both work together to ensure that all children achieve their targets and both carry out observations of the children in their class. By carrying out observations this gives factual feedback to the teacher to show exactly what stage each child is a, if they need extra support and how to get them to their targets.…

As a teacher assistant, I do on-going observation of the students in the classroom; I gather information about many skills on a checklist. This includes writing, print awareness, language, and the purposeful use of materials. When I do observations, they include detailed notes so I can relate them more easily to many of the goals and objectives set for the children. I focus on about four children a day and spend about 15 minutes during rest time looking over my observations. I make sure the classroom is arranged so that there are interesting hands-on activities for all children. Also, I arrange space so that the children can navigate in and out of the space safely. I help choose activities that best meet all children’s abilities. Also, I participant in helping the children at mealtimes, I guide them washing their hands before and after each meal. I have the children assist in setting the tables, instruct them to keep all food and utensils on the placemats, and encourage them to use all utensils. I sit at the table with the children and model appropriate mealtime behavior. When I sit...…

Planning: As a teaching assistant, I assist the teacher in planning for lessons by first having an informal discussion with the teacher in order to determine what the learning objectives are for the upcoming topics, so both I and the teacher know what the learning outcomes are and what is expected of the children. If I sometimes miss work the teacher sometimes emails me with a breakdown of lesson plans for the week so I can prepare for it and so I know what has been covered in the days I was absent. During this discussion I am able to put forth my ideas on how best I think the topic should be delivered and what groups of children I should sit next to provide additional support as they may struggle the most. Discussing and planning the activities beforehand gives me an idea of what needs to be done before the lesson and during the lesson. By doing this it helps me be in control of my group as I know what needs to be done.…

Yes, last week was really difficult for me! I'm pursuing my degree in nursing through Arizona College and doing my prerequests through Keiser University, so I was able to take advantage of the free tutoring available at Arizona College. I put my kids in daycare for the week and I was at the Arizona College campus from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. studying and being tutored. I feel that I understand the concepts that we are studying each week, however the math portion is what I'm having a hard time with since I havent taken a math class in about ten years. I feel that I'm able to do the problems but they are taking me a long time to complete and since the time frame for the test is fifty minutes I run out of time and I'm left guessing on some of the…

During this assignment, I will be discussing whether or not it is worth the financial cost of having a Teaching Assistant (TA) within a classroom setting. I will be elaborating on: the roles and responsibilities that Teaching Assistants have and how this can be affected by both the Teacher and the children in the class; the effect that they have on the children’s learning both in group and on a one to one situations; different opinions that people have about TAs and how this can affect the class team and I will also be discussing people’s views on whether or not Teaching Assistants are worth the money. TA’s can play a vital role in the classroom but may also be used ineffectively. I will be highlighting the importance this plays in a classroom…

Thesis: Objectors of Utilitarianism states that there is no time for calculating and weighing the effects on utilizing the general happiness. On the contrary, Mill says that mankind has been learning by experience the tendency of actions in order to know what is right and wrong. The rules of morality is improvable, therefore we should pass all that experience on others. However, improving the rules of morality is one thing, but to educate it to the younger is another; since there is still much to learn about the effects of actions on general happiness, and all rational people go through life with their minds made up on the common questions of right and wrong.…
