Abstract
I have always wished to be a manager of a big company. To achieve this dream, I have been working hard tirelessly. The recent course that had a lot of influence on my career goals was based on Principles of Management v 1.1. Various issues regarding management were explicitly discussed in this course. Areas discussed included leadership styles, sources of powers, change management, motivation strategies, Corporate Social Responsibility, diversity management among others. This paper will, therefore, discuss in detail how this course has influenced my approach towards management and built me career wise.
The course Management as a Profession has played a critical role in my career growth and management. In my view, this course was meant to assist me create a strategy in my career path. The course has clearly brought out my career interests, skills, knowledge, abilities, work culture preferences and critical thinking style. This course has further assisted me to recognize my strengths and weaknesses that will be essential in my career life.
For instance, it offered an opportunity for everybody to establish his or her interest profile. Based on the results from my interest profiler, I have realized that these are realistic, conventional and social. I believe that management as a profession involves applying theories learnt to real world situations. A good example is using different techniques of problem-solving to reach viable conclusions. Management business has some set procedures and schedules, social responsibilities, various forms of communication styles and leadership or even training one’s subordinates. The course has offered me a high number of practical applications that is worth a lot in my future management career.
