Reflective Essay
During my first writing studies class in college as an English major I feel like I have accomplished a variety of goals I once thought were unattainable. I have not only grown as a writer and a student, but as a person as well. I feel that through my experience of this English course, I have gained the knowledge and confidence it takes to step out into the real world. I learned a lot in this composition class. I learned about how to write a proper essay, the different types of essays, and how to cite sources. Depending on what kind of essay you are writing depends on what you have to have in it. There is a format for every essay but you have to make sure it is written correctly and includes everything that it is supposed to. Every part of an essay is important. It is also important to cite your sources because if you don’t say that your information is coming from someone else then that is plagiarism. To be quite honest, all my academic life, I always categorized writing under English class only; however, I realized in high school that the skills you acquire in English courses, will be extremely beneficial to you, which made me become extremely interested in English as a whole and intrigued me further into ultimately becoming an English major. Whether it is writing a business letter, to a history essay, knowing how to write, is always a must in your every day life. As a young child, I always loved to write stories while using my creative, deep imagination. Writing was always a way for me to escape my every day life and jump into a much more elaborate, carefree, world of creativity. Although, I always enjoyed writing, during high school, I would often find myself frustrated considering I had the worst case of writer’s block. I constantly felt that I did not know how to write “correctly,” which made me nervous coming into college. By being in this class it has ultimately gave me the confidence in
