Reflective Essay: My First Writing Class

Entering my first semester of college I did not believe I could produce university level writing straight from the beginning. It turned out that I was capable of writing at an undergraduate level and it took the tremendous writing professors at holy family to teach me that. After concluding my first writing class, also known as “Writing I”, I thought I was the best writing in my class. Mr. Litten and his writing class stripped me of that belief. I do not mean that in a harmful way. Writing II challenged me at a higher rate than any previous English class. Entering Writing II after the completion of my first writing course here at Holy Family, I believed I was superb writer, yet I still processed the knowledge to be aware that I still have a large amount of room for improvement. I have that massive ten to twelve page research paper to thank for my the improvement of my organizational skills. With a paper that needs a lot of content, a successful outline is crucial for getting a passing grade. The outline placed all my thoughts about certain topics in one area and it allowed me to observe what I need to research on and other areas where I can research on a lesser scale. Writing II improved my overall ability due to the fact that the more writing I complete the better and more proficient writing I will be. Practice makes perfect, that cliche has been said over a million times, however it is undeniably true. The more I read and write the more my vocabulary will expand and I will be the best writer possible. I loved my writing class this semester, everyone added great input in the time we had for peer review. The peer review and the all the assignments have made me a better writer and for that I can thank myself, all my classmates, my professor, and the university. I can only imagine where my writing will be come this time next
