Working as part of the HR team in ----------------- was a big learning curve for myself. Initially I was given the more technological based tasks such as working on Microsoft excel, dealing with team leaders through our outlook based email and taking phone calls on a daily basis. Another important task was carrying out administrative tasks on our eTraining website, --------------- which was used for the majority of ------------------ training matrix with the exception of Manual Handling, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and Crisis Prevention Instruction (CPI) which are often put on in the training room in our offices and/ or outsourced to a conference room in the local hotel situated across the road from our building.
One of my first tasks was to carry out a staff file audit, which could be saved on the local S: drive and used at a later date, with for example, the addition of new staff. At the present time it was to be populated with all the information provided, and any outstanding information or documentation was to be gathered and filed appropriately, whilst also being recorded on the ‘staff file audit matrix’. Upon first inspection of the files I realised that there was an evident lack of effort put into chasing up on missing documentation. That became my job. I felt that better procedures for dealing with such a task needed to be put in place, and therefore I began a system whereby each house was contacted separately through email, direct to the house and Team leaders, and individual staff members were Cc’d in on emails, which contained all the relevant documents which needed to be. After a period of 2 weeks I would re-contact all staff who haven’t returned the relevant documentation and agree a final return date, which needed to be adhered to.
