It starts out with them both searching for him, but ends with Louisa left alone to look for him. This shows that Paul has had a strong impact on her and she is desperate to find him. Even though the readers can not hear the actors speaking, there is a strong sense of rhythm. The author uses full stops indicate an abrupt end through out, mirroring their hopeless search for Paul.
Aspect 2:
Not belonging familiarly
Family does not necessarily mean blood related so belonging to a family is deeply wanted by those who don’t have it but is taken for granted by those who do.

The writer decided to dim the spotlight on Tess whilst on the phone to her mother to illustrate her gradual disappearance from her parents lives. It also displays Louisa’s choice to stay with Paul then to listen to her own daughter.
