Firstly, Juliet was born into a rich and complex family and she is an only child in this family. This condition makes her behavior more selfish as because of her suicide, there would be no one to look after her parents. Moreover, her family and her lover’s family are two rival families. We can see these two leading Verona families always fight in the public streets and disrupt the peace of the city. In such a case, Juliet doesn’t consider anything and she marries Romeo without consulting her parents, so this is another point which shows us that Juliet behaves selfishly

Juliet doesn’t want Romeo to leave, so she tries to tell him it’s not morning yet. Although she changes quickly, this point also shows us her selfish behaviour. The situation is very dangerous, if Romeo stays with Juliet, she does not have to think about his safety. Later in this scene, Juliet has a long conversation with her parents and the Nurse. She is rebellious and disobedient towards her parents, because they would like her to marry their choice. It shows us she behaves unselfishly. She is still loyal to her husband Romeo, although the result of her marriage to Paris is better. Romeo is banished and become Paris is a gallant, young and noble gentleman, I think many girls would choose Paris rather than Romeo. For her parents, she is a selfish girl.
