The theme of Remember The Titans is that no one should be treated like their race doesn't matter. In the beginning, the theme starts to develop when the coach brings them to a camp to make them work together. They all have to spend the rest of the day with a player of a different race, but if they don't get along, Coach Boone will make the team go to two-three day practices. Logos is the most commonly used rhetorical device by speakers, and Coach Boone is no exception to the rule. The two strongest speeches he gives to his players both exemplify the best way to use logos. In the first speech being analyzed, the coach is speaking to his players about working together and not being divided while on the field of the battle of Gettysburg. He tells them about how brother fought against brother, and the price they paid for what they did, how they destroyed each other. If they don’t shape up and learn how to be a team, they too will be destroyed. Lessons must be learned from history, and mistakes should not be repeated. Coach Boone understands this, and desperately wants his team to understand it as well.…

In the movie, Remember the Titans, it’s about both races; black and white coming together as a team and come together as a family. This film really exploits America’s football and I believe that’s how this team really brought people of both races together. By combining America's love for football and the hatred of one another's race it showed people that race didn’t really matter, we all play the same way. Although the film was very touching and powerful in its message, there are a few things displayed in the movie that does not match up with the history.…

Using music to convey that the team is together, and when they are together, they overcome conflict between the two prejudice communities. An example of this is when Gary and his team warm up in the third game by singing and dancing along to a song called “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” by Steam to show that they have finally come together and overcome conflict that happened after camp. Another conflict that Gary has faced due to the tension is his mother doesn’t approve of him associating with a black male and ends up leaning towards his mother and abandoning the team. He overcomes this after realising that they are a team and he shouldn’t treat them any different than before in the team meeting in the gym. The director uses music to show the bond created by the two races in the team. The lesson I learned was that if you work together as a team then you will finally conquer everything. There really is no ‘i’ in ‘team’.…

The decade that followed brought with it an increasing recognition of black rights, but the prejudice of the white community was still profuse. ‘Remember the Titans’ is set in this socio cultural climate. Directed by Boaz Yakin, this film follows the adversities faced by an newly integrated high school football team and their African-American coach. Brian’s Song and Remember the Titans are not just stories about football but about much more. These books show what it truly is to be a team. Team is about everyone sticking up for one another and forgetting about differences. I have always had the motto in my head as team meaning Together Everyone Achieves More. In these stories you can tell that motto is slowly but surely shining through. Think about it this way if you are on a team and your starting player breaks there leg the night before the championship game your team has to work even harder to make up for the missing player. That is what happened in Brian’s Song and Remember the titans. They both had to come together in this way but also…

The first way the theme is revealed is by John Lewis and other blacks being discriminated against. In the Southern States black people were discriminated against and were not allowed to eat or watch movies at the same places as white people because they were “colored”. Because of their skin they were denied the same things as white people. As shown in this quote “You bought your ticket at the same window that the white people did, but they could sit downstairs, and you had to go upstairs.” This quote supports the theme because it shows how hard life is on them and how they go on.…
