The process of replacing a broken laptop screen can sometimes be costly, time consuming, and daunting for some individuals who are not technically inclined. In today’s society, computers have become a common necessity in our daily lives. People regularly use computers for various tasks whether using them to operate a small business, completing homework, or for entertainment purposes. These machines have become innately part of our daily routine, and with constant use they will become prone to accidental damage. According to PC magazine, the average broken laptop screen repair can cost between $250 and$ 450, depending on the make and model. In today’s challenging economic times, conserving money for most people is one of their top priorities, which compels many people to do their own repairs instead of getting it repaired at the repair shop. In this paper, I will give instructions on how to replace a broken LCD screen in an Acer 5552-3691 laptop.
Changing an LCD screen entails several steps and requires one to have the necessary tools for the replacement of the screen. The items needed to start the repair are: a mini Philips and a mini flathead screwdriver, one plastic wedge, a new compatible replacement screen, scotch tape, one static wrist strap (optional), and a flat surface to perform the repair. The first process is to make sure the laptop is turned off, and the battery is removed. To remove the battery, close the lid and place the laptop on the reverse side, then slide the clip that indicates battery release to right, this will release the battery. Next, place the laptop to the upright position, using the flathead screwdriver, locate and remove the four square rubber adhesive sticky pads on the front bezel of the screen that hide the screws. The front bezel will consist of four screws; one in each corner, remove the screws with the Philips screwdriver; then use the plastic wedge to pry open and separate the front bezel
