There are some persuasive arguments on either side of the table. Direct democracy lends itself to the conception that the people should decide the law of the land, and that the people know fully how to govern. In contrast, representational democracy contends that the prevalent individual does not have adequate education about the concerns to make a right decision. Direct democracy would be most likely be managed by referendums or initiatives. This type of democracy does incline to bring out the worst in people, in my opinion. Often, relatively little groups of special interest people can make an abundance of attention to issues that are only paramount to a local community, state, or particular people. In other words, what’s best for the whole may be overlooked. Supplementally, people, incline to be fickle in their judgments at times, especially if a particular issue is proximate to their hearts and minds.
